The port of Diano Marina is located opposite the seaside town of the same name in the province of Imperia. Diano Marina can be recognized from the sea by a tall bell tower with a red dome that rises in the center of the village and is between Capo Berta to the west, Capo Cervo to the east, and Monte Torre to the northwest.
The nearest ports are the port of Imperia Oneglia 4.7 nautical miles to the west and the port of Andora 4.5 nautical miles to the east. The port of Diano Marina is open year-round, three piers are added in summer, and berths increase from about 270 to 320. About ten berths are reserved for transit and two for professional fishing.
On either side of the port are two docked piers equipped with moorings: the western pier is 110 meters long and the eastern pier is 300 meters long. All pier docks have anchor chains and water and electricity supply columns. In addition to the three seasonal piers inside the port there are five, two at the quay and three at the starboard entrance.
Care must be taken at the entrance because the mouth is subject to silting, although dredging work is frequently done. In summer, there are also three cross piers that are located entering the starboard side and obstruct the entrance.
Fishing is prohibited in the entire port area and the maximum speed allowed is two knots. The harbor bottom is muddy and shallow, in some places reaching 70 cm, and at the dock the maximum depth is 2.5 meters. Entry to the port is not difficult, thanks to the breakwater that runs from east to west and protects from sea currents.
Access is continuous, however, it is allowed only in case of adverse weather conditions or only for transit. The maximum allowed draft is 2.5 meters. In order to moor, one must contact the maritime authority that manages the landings.
Diano Marina’s is among the best-equipped ports in Liguria, and all the main services are available, including a crane with a maximum capacity of 15 tons and the ability to repair boats. Three hundred meters from the ports there is a fuel station, and fire-fighting, diving, garbage pickup, and guarding services are available.
The areas reserved for boating are two dockside piers to which three more floating piers are added in summer. The annual docks are 105 and 85 meters long, and one must contact the administrative offices for mooring arrangements and be placed on the waiting list.
