With a curious horseshoe shape, the port of Santa Maria Ligure was designed in the mid-1800s at the request of Camillo Benso himself, due to needs related to the safety of navigation of boats.
To date, the facility is, as far as nautical boating excellence is concerned, one of the largest ports in Liguria for boat docking.
Various types of vessels are moored there: from luxury mega yachts to sailboats, from Ligurian gozzi to fishing boats.
The size and facilities in the port also allow the docking of large tourist cruise ships for passenger disembarkation.
The ports has a protective breakwater, extending northeastward, within which are six docks of different lengths from which branch off eight floating docks for mooring boats.
The type of mooring is with dead body
At the entrance, keep 100 meters from the extremity of the cast.
During the fall and spring, the location becomes the site of major sailing sports competitions.
