Lenno (Lago di Como)

Lenno is situated in a deep inlet, the Gulf of Venus, along the western shore of Lake Como. The Port of Lenno is connected by ferry boats and hydrofoils to the major towns on Lake Como. It stretches over a length of about 200 m, offering shelter to about 40 boats of various sizes. The landing place is located on the northern shore close to the potretto shore from the Gulf that opens to the east for about 350 m.

The ports are characterized by the presence of a white/red pole, which indicatively marks the depth of the water. The presence of an additional T-shaped pier for public use, recently built, is noted. The landing place is located on the north shore close to the shore, Lavedo hump that slopes down and ends at the tip of Balbianello. Although it is not a real traditional port, it is possible, in case of need, to approach the floating dock placed perpendicularly to the coast, used for local landing. The gulf, characterized by shallow water, offers the possibility of safe mooring at anchor.

The area is characterized by an almost total absence of wind, except for a few modest morning episodes in which light thermal breezes of moderate intensity can be encountered. In conjunction with disturbances or thunderstorm events, episodes of strong intensity may occur over the entire area. Of note, in conjunction with storm events, is the presence of the Menaggino, which fans out when it reaches the lake.

A promenade starts from the port and runs along the entire inlet and continues in a southerly direction to the tip of Balbianello, characterized by the presence of a famous villa used as a location by some foreign directors. Also worth visiting are the medieval church of Santo Stefano and the Romanesque Baptistery.

There are several beaches in Lenno that overlook the Gulf of Venus. The first beach located towards Menaggio is the beach of Campo located at the mouth of the Perlana Valley river with a large parking lot nearby. There is then thel Lido di Lenno with a sandy beach, sunbeds and umbrellas for a fee, and immediately following a large pebble beach with free access and nearby parking. The beach at San Giorgio immediately after the lakefront has a wide lawn and is free access, with parking nearby.

In Lenno it is possible to taste lake fish dishes including the perch risotto, missoltini, carp fish, fried bleak, and Tremezzina-style fish soup with pike, trout, chub, burbot, and perch.
