Marche ports in the Gulf of Ancona
Since the 16th century B.C., the Gulf of Ancona has been a valuable shelter for sailors and a strategic point for trade with Greece, the Dalmatian and Istrian coasts.
Nowadays, the port is one of the most active and important ports, of the Mediterranean Sea, from which both container ships (commercial traffic) and ferry and cruise ships bound for the Aegean coast, Croatia, Albania and Greece (tourist traffic) depart.
The port infrastructure contains within it numerous docks (some of which are reserved for the Navy) and is protected by two large piers.
The area reserved for recreation is that of the Marina Dorica turisco port, south area.
