With its 194 berths for boats up to 12 meters and its many dry maintenance and repair facilities (trestle, tide gate, electro-hydraulic crane), the Belém dock has, for all sailing enthusiasts around the world, an important symbolic position: the Portuguese ships departed here, who pioneered discoveries in the 15th and 16th centuries and thus decisively revolutionized the techniques of sailboat construction and navigation on the high seas.
