Sardinia’s marinas
Since the second half of the 18th century, the inlet of Cala Gavetta has represented the historic ports of the Maddalena archipelago. Established as a military outpost of the Savoys, the port of Cala Gavetta is the heart of the historic center of the town of La Maddalena, from which there is direct access to Piazza XXIII Febbraio. The ports are located in the southern part of the island. The marina is protected by a breakwater pier directed southeast to and a south-south-east/south-west oriented elbow pier. The marina facility is managed by the Municipality of La Maddalena.
There are 140 berths in the Port of Cala Gavetta divided on floating docks:
- Indoor berths from 5 to 30 meters;
- Outside berths from 15 to 30 meters;
- 20 buoys located in the stretch of water in front of the outer breakwater provide boat mooring facilities.
Boats with a maximum length of 50 meters with a maximum draft of 7 meters may moor.
The Port of Cala Gavetta offers several services to boaters: water, electricity, toilets and showers, wi-fi internet connection, hauling and launching, scuba diver, and garbage collection. The port has a filling station located at the entrance that is open from 8 am to 7 pm. Being located in the center of the town of La Maddalena, it offers easy access to all kinds of tourist services (car, scooter and bicycle rentals), supermarkets, nautical supply stores, as well as bars and restaurants. Maina is an ideal starting point for visiting the island’s historic center, and is very busy and lively in the summer season. From La Maddalena you can also access the island of Caprera by land.
