Calasetta is on the northern coast of the island of sant’Antioco, and is the second largest town on the island with 2750 inhabitants. It is a quiet and friendly place, and also a lively community with the services and entertainment for the vacation. There are several supermarkets, and a good supply of fishmongers, butchers, and bakeries. On Wednesday mornings there is a market at the ports, with fresh cheeses, cold cuts, fruits and vegetables, oil and wine, and other local products.
Calasetta boasts three beautiful beaches: Sottotorre, within walking distance of the marina, then westward Salina and Spiaggia Grande. The beaches are fine sand, with clear, shallow water near the shoreline. The three beaches are composed in an arc, with rocks at each end.
Calasetta comes alive in the evening and the main, pedestrian street teems with young people strolling or sitting in bars and ice cream parlors. Concerts, festivals and folk festivals are held in the square, welcomed by citizens and tourists with cheerfulness. Stores are open late into the evening, where you can admire typical items such as coral jewelry, textiles, and glass.
There are restaurants and pizzerias for every choice, bars where you can enjoy different cocktails, in the village and on the beaches, traditional and modern seafood restaurants, and meat restaurants where you can enjoy Calasettan and Tabarchan cuisine, pizzerias, sandwich shops, and cafes.
