The Marina of Porto Conte is located in the Porto Conte bay to the east of Capo Caccia.
La base nautica si trova nella parte Sud-Est della cala Torre del Conte, nella parte piรน interna di Porto Conte. The marina includes a quay, a long quayside breakwater and floating docks.
With a length of about 6 km and a width of 2.5 km, it is considered one of the largest natural ports in the Mediterranean Sea.
Of the 300 berths, 10 are reserved for transit. It is convenient to move within the 4-meter deep dredged access channel due to shallow waters. Available to boaters are a fuel station at the dock, water and power outlets , 30-ton cranes, hull and engine repair, and storage on land. There is a hotel in the vicinity of the port, for galley replenishment go to the village 1.5 km away.
The port is located east of the tip of Porto Conte on which stands a white turret with lighthouse and a large white hotel. Once past the tip make your way to the mouth of the harbor marked by a green and a red light staying a safe distance from the shore. The marina is well sheltered from all winds; strong northwest winds can cause undertow making mooring difficult. In that case anchor in the bay close to the northern shore where the seabed is shallow but regular and there are no hazards.
La bay of Porto Conte is enclosed between the promontories of Capo Caccia and Punta del Giglio. The area is under environmental protection in the land area with the Porto Conte Regional Park and in the marine part with the Capo Caccia – Isola Piana Marine Protected Area. The bay offers within it numerous coves where to find shelter from all winds in addition to the marina. Depths are high at the mouth and go decreasing inside the bay.
La Mugoni Beach along the coast of Porto Conte Park is characterized by fine white sand and emerald-green waters that slope gently offshore. The beach is very long and is surrounded by a lush pine forest. Several entrances lead to bathing spots and provide access to several small sandy and rocky beaches. Several bars and a camping area can be found along the beach.
Boats depart daily from Porto Conte for excursions to the Neptune’s Cave which opens at the foot of Capo Caccia.
