Capo d’Orlando Marina is destined to become a flagship for recreational boating in Sicily primarily due to a strategic location that solicits shipping routes throughout the Mediterranean and a mild climate that makes it ideal for year-round nautical tourism. In addition to all the comforts found in a modern marina, a pedestrian tourist route rises within the port area to enhance the ancient Cave del Mercadante, a protected archaeological site of rare interest, from whose rocks, emerging from the sea, millstones were obtained.
The Tourist Port will officially open its doors in July 2017, but marketing of berthing services will begin by summer 2016. The massive port basin will accommodate 553 berths reserved for boats from 7.5 to 40 m. in length, and berthing will be at the dock with dead-bulk tows.
Featuring a seabed depth of 3.5 m to 5 m, in total the marina will cover an area of 183,000 m² , including indoor spaces and docks. The elegant constructions envisaged by the project to support the tourist infrastructure enclose a repair and storage workshop, as well as an admirable promenade of stores extending at quay level over about 3,000 m², which also includes a bar, restaurant and mini market.
On the upper floor of the central bodies are the Yacht Club rooms (Club House) and a large restaurant also equipped with outdoor spaces and usable by boaters and members. The transparent patio dome illuminates its rooms into the evening, allowing glimpses of the wonder of the starry sky.
