Marina di Portorosa is Sicily’s largest marina, and among the most exclusive in the Mediterranean. It was built in 1992, at the desire of its proponent Salvatore Foti; an enterprising entrepreneur, lover of the sea and professional boater.
The port is located on the northern coast, in the Gulf of Patti, between Cape Tindari and Cape Milazzo, facing the Aeolian Islands. It consists of a foreport, protected by a breakwater, and a sub-billow pier, and several inner docked docks obtained by excavation.
The port provides 700 berths on 400 meters of quay. From here it is possible to sail to the Aeolian Islands and admire the beauty of the landscape.
It has been a blue flag since 1993.
Services offered:
Hazards: access into ports can be problematic in NW winds and swells. To those coming from the West (Cape Tindari) advancing far below the coast the port access lights may appear upside down. It is necessary to go farther offshore to see them in the correct position and thus enter ports safely.
Access hours: Continuous
Access: Boats with a draft of 2.50 m or more must request permission from port management and still wait for the arrival of the service boat.
Depths: Inlet 4 to 5 m, harbor basin 2.00 to 3.80 m
Prohibitions: Maximum speed 3 knots. In the Marinello ponds, which are accessible from the sea, boating, fishing, mooring and transit are prohibited both within the Marinello ponds and in a strip indicated by special buoys.
Traverses: NW.
