The port of Pignataro is by many identified and also called the port of Lipari. This ownership of the name, sees its credibility from the fact that the port is located north of Lipari Castle. Besides connoting to the port structure, a strong sense of belonging with the beautiful and historic city, it gives prestige to the presentation of one of the most beautiful parts of the Aeolian Islands.
Mooring at such ports, in fact invites numerous boats carried by all the sirocco currents that caress the coast, offering shelter from the libeccio and ostro winds, famous for their strength and danger in causing undertow even to experienced boats. The ports present a fascinating and comprehensive structure in terms of figurative art and functional peculiarities.
It consists of a main pier that houses a small lighthouse. The breakwater structure, is equipped in its quay with numerous bollards and rings arranged for mooring. Capacity, the latter, which it makes available for more than 250 boats, ranging from medium-length boats to tourist ferries. For ferries, there is a fully dedicated dock for moorings.
In the area over which the port extends, an entire part dedicated to accommodate a number of about 40 boats devoted to purely tourist craft and landing has also been isolated. This possibility of diversifying the docked airs and the dock, to different types of moorings with different services to the different natures of boats, also occurs thanks to an available body of water that extends up to 34,000m2.
The services offered by the dock are, therefore, among the most varied precisely to meet different needs. There is a slipway with a crane capable of garaging boats weighing up to 70 tons. There are, in addition, telephone service, garbage pickup, water intake, electricity, divers, weather service, mooring, unmooring and superficial first aid work.
Not exactly on the ports structure but adjacent to it, there is still access to hospitals, hotels, post offices, banks, pharmacies, workshops, bars and grocery stores of various kinds, and services related to beach tourism.
The port of Pignataro – Lipari, represents a reference point for sailors who love to ride the waters of the beautiful Aeolian Islands.
