Porto di Terrasini

The port of Terrasini

The port of Terrasini is mainly defined as a fishing port, precisely because of its dedicated activity as a commercial port of call in the sector. It is located in the Gulf of Palermo, in the part of the rocky Sicilian coastline that faces the direction of the island of Ustica in the open sea.

This marina consists of a three-armed breakwater. Of the latter, the third extends perpendicularly into an undertow structure. In addition to this pier that protects it, it also features a straight under-billow pier. A small pier composed at the head of another small docked pier separates the port itself into two basins.

The facility can offer up to 250 berths , with a maximum length of 30 meters. Of these 250, 10 berths are dedicated to transit.

Although the facility is dedicated to fishing boats, the port provides piers used for recreational boats in the seasonal period. No pontoons operated by the municipality are provided. Therefore, in the winter period, recreational mooring is reserved for a transit area, subject to permission from theMaritime Authority.

Being heavily traveled, the marina defines transit rules to which due attention should be paid. Especially in access, transit and precedence in maneuvering out of the area. These warnings are necessary, especially because of periodic silting of the shallow sandy bottom or because of the wind, coming from Quadrant IV.

Ports services are mainly related to transit activities. Refueling, water, cranes. As well as travel lift service and engine repair. There is also, at the inner wharf, an area completely dedicated to the harbormaster‘s vessels. Area in which it is obviously forbidden for unauthorized vessels to moor.

The setting in which the small harbor structure extends, is charming and inconspicuous. Despite the fact that the entire area is well exploited in the service of moored boats and fishing vessel activities, it does not lose its maritime beauty. This is thanks to the sea of the gulf, which is distinguished by its bright blue, contrasting with the reef composition, typical of the Sicilian area with its characteristic light color of salt marsh and rock.

The port of Terrasini is thus the proud fishing vessel of the Gulf of Palermo. It lives on a strong maritime identity, with large and excellent berthing capacity on its surface. In the beautiful setting of northern Sicily, it guarantees services and transit, to authorized boats in the area.
