The Port of La Restinga is the pier located south of the entity’s ports (the south of the island of El Hierro). Maritime access to the port is conditioned by the strict dimensions and widespread inner boundary of its mouth. This circumstance forces boats to take a NE course and adapt to the snout of the breakwater.
Given the limited size of ships in the port, this factor is not particularly difficult, although the competition of crosswinds and waves from the 2nd and 3rd quadrants adds special complexity to the maneuver. The straight shelter dam is oriented in the E-W direction and the open mouth to the S-SW. With this configuration, long-period waves with a W component may offer some difficulty within the dock, although they are adequately protected from internal contradiction in the area corresponding to the docks of smaller ships.
