Puerto Deportivo Marina Del Cantábrico

Our community, the “Community of Mooring Owners and Service Forms of the Bay of Biscay Marina,” was formally established in 1986 under the current Law of Associations, providing full legal personality for all purposes. Although, since July 14, 1981, it already existed under the name of “Community of Mooring Owners of Puerto Deportivo-Marina del Cantábrico, S.A.,” as the legal representative of Manuel M. Entrialgo.

Thus, our Radice roots go back to the early 1980s and are based on the spontaneous collective movement of the first berth owners, prior to the economic-financial crisis of the then concessionaire Marina del Cantábrico, SA, which led to a total abandonment of the Port along with a total lack of management, in line with the embargo of the first Company in possession of the Concession and subsequent assignment of the Port to Mortgage Bank.

In 1987, Banco Hipotecario civilly transmitted the concession to the current concessionaire, Marina de Santander, S.A., which found a port, still unfinished with all the forecasts of its project and operational thanks to our Community. This situation prevented ignoring the existence and the rights acquired by the owners of berths acquired by the disappeared Marina del Cantábrico, SA, which led to a negotiation whose result was the contract signed on November 27, 1987, between Marina de Santander, SA with our community, making a series of agreements of capital importance.

Under this contract, Marina de Santander, SA recognized the property rights to the berths acquired by Marina del Cantábrico, SA, and assigned to our Community the management of all nautical services inherent in the Port’s operations, receiving the sum of 65 million pesetas.

Today our Community continues to manage and provide nautical services of any quality, thanks to the training and professionalism of its staff, supported by equipment material consisting of: two travelift one 70 tons and another 27 tons, one crane, one pneumatic, two vehicles (one Citroen and one Nissan), hydraulic truck, technically adequate and controlled by regulation.

The community, with its human team, also maintains the pontoons and fingers. In both cases, and for safety reasons, protocols and insights are being made in the prevention of occupational hazards for its staff and the users themselves.
