Club Nàutic Llafranc was founded on April 30, 1963, having its base on Llafranc beach. As time went on, it was deemed necessary to build a port to improve the facility and services. It became a reality in 1970, the year of its inauguration. In its early days, many speedboat and water-skiing races were organized, sports that with the growth of tourism and the expansion of anchorage buoys in our creeks were in decline, taking more momentum than sailing. The Santa Rosa regattas, held annually in late August, are the oldest on our coast, since they have been organized continuously since the year the Club was founded. Other important activities organized include four European sailing championships (1975 Finn class and 2012, 2013, 2016 5.00 free class), an underwater photography championship in Spain (2005), three championships in Spanish powerboating (1965, 1966, and 1968), and three sailing championships of Catalonia (FINN class of 1975 and 1988 and LASER class of 1990).
