The Santa Pola Nautical Club was formed in August 1972, its main forerunner being Mr. José Quiles Parreño, founder of the Club and first president of the entity. At that time it consisted of only a few pleasure boats attached to the western ports of Santa Pola Harbor. The future of the present Nautical Club began to look a little clearer when in 1980 the administrative concession was granted for a period of 20 years. This motivated the decision to invest seriously in building modern facilities. The Social Building, the main emblem of the Entity, was inaugurated on June 27, 1981. Once the first concession expired, negotiations with the Ministry of Infrastructure began again, and the current concession was signed in November 2003 for a period of 30 years. From this time, the Santa Pola Yacht Club began a new stage in the face of major renovation work on all its facilities. The works were carried out between September 2004 and February 2006 and are structured in three blocks or sections: maritime works, construction of workshops and services, and social building reform. Currently the Santa Pola Nautical Club is one of the largest clubs in the province of Alicante in the number of berths, totaling 510. In addition to the quality of services offered and good condition of its facilities, it counts with a total of 850 members. We must not forget the social purpose of the Entity, which is none other than the promotion and advancement of water sports. The various sports sections of the Entity: light sailing, cruising sailing, sailing, rowing, and fishing, are supported by the majority of the budget and develop an extensive calendar of competitions throughout the year. Competitions range from local to national with great participation in all of them.
