Consortium Mataro is a public consortium built in 1997, Decree 236/197 of Sept. 2 that the formation of the consortium Port Mataro, DOGC 2473 10.09.1997, Catalonia and the municipality of Mataró that aims to unload and exploitation of the Mataró marina. The consortium is under the administrative dependence of the Department of Territorial Policy and Public Works through the Secretariat for Mobility and the General Directorate of Ports. The consortium manages a modern and constantly evolving port in the capital of Maresme, which has 1,080 berths and a commercial area of 7,000,000 square meters. Port de Mataro is responsible for environmental initiatives, which have led it to achieve, since 2005, by applying for the EMAS certificate and European Blue Flag quality continuously over the years since 1998.
