Marina Cala Galera

Cala Galera marina: berth in Tuscany

The port of Cala Galera was one of the first ports to be built. It is located in the eastern gulf of the same name on Mount Argentario about 3KM northeast of Porto Ercole.
It is a modern port that provides nautical assistance and 670 berths for boats ranging from 6 to 50 meters and docks for 635 mt, 12 piers (one of which is floating).

A 220/380V power column and a water column are arranged at each dock. To enter the Marina of Cala Galera one must cross the southwest coast of Argentario, since the port is protected by its promontory, access is not affected by any weather conditions, on the contrary, the particular structure of the breakwater pier prevents the only possible difficulty, namely the Scirocco, allowing every type of boat a smooth entry and exit.

Shipbuilding and landing

The port has shipyards that take care of boat maintenance and repairs. The shipyard has two travel lifts up to 80 tons and a slipway up to 300 tons and also offers ample space in the innermost part.

Landing is done with chains to dead bodies and guide cables. Each vessel arranges rings or bollards on the docks. To prevent the formation of standing water and backwash within the ports, the docks are arranged on prefabricated columns of reinforced and centrifuged concrete.
Below sea level there are three openings that allow continuous circulation and water exchange. Below the Control Tower, there is a fuel supply dock: super gasoline, diesel fuel, and mixture.
The Control Tower at the port entrance monitors and coordinates traffic and delivers berths on the quay to boaters. Communication between the Control Tower and boats is transmitted on VHF channel 9 both day and night.

During the summer period, the Tower puts weather conditions and potential announcements of gales or thunderstorms on the bulletin board. Only vehicles with a card issued by the Port Management may enter the port area. Non-member berth boaters can also apply for a card from the Harbor Management. The port is protected by a fire net and fire extinguishers.
