The Port of Santa Liberata, is another Tuscan port, located in the northwestern part of Monte Argentario. Decidedly secluded, despite its modest cut, it nevertheless retains an enviable profile. Proud and distinctive in appearance, the port located on the Tyrrhenian Sea is strategic in terms of location and scenic beauty.
In fact, the port of Santa Liberata can be defined as primarily tourist. It is located precisely along the channel that connects the Orbetello Lagoon to the northern shore of the Argentario mountain. It is located in a border area that touches and connects the hamlet of Giannella and the town of Orbetello itself.
It is precisely this location on the Tyrrhenian coast that gives the port a safe reference point for boats that, especially in high season, sail the stretch of coastline with tourist and seaside itineraries. The surface that characterizes it is very peculiar and jagged in planimetry. In fact, in spite of the still excellent capacity, the landing place is reserved for small boats.
This is because the seabed is particularly shallow, no more than 1.5 deep, and because of the irregular presence of numerous reefs that do not make the seabed reliable. Obviously, the presence of the reefs, make it dangerous, and very often prohibitive, for boats wider than 10 meters to land. In fact, by convention, given the impossibility of calculating irregular depths in the area of the rocks, the ports subscribe to strict rules when entering and exiting.
Despite this structure and the limitations of the seabed, the port manages in contrast to ensure approximately 600 berths, for maximum lengths of 6 meters. An aspect that obviously, in its contradiction, provides great respect to this very particular but appreciated landing place by the many, who often sail the stretch of coastline in the municipality of Monte Argentario.
A credibility also built by the presence of port services that usually belong to more famous facilities or designed on decidedly more prestigious surface plans. Travel lifts and mobile cranes are two of the most reliable services, not to mention the presence of workshops for servicing and repairing hulls.
The port of Santa Liberata can be counted as a high-profile marina. Not only as a reliable and capacious landing place but also as a prompt and efficient service facility. Clearly, in the landscape of offshore sailing, it penalizes those who sail in particularly large boats by targeting sailors of smaller boats. But as is often the case, category addressing, increases the sense of belonging and ensures more focused services.
