Very recently built, Marina Santelena is a private landing place that opened on July 4, 2015 on theVenetian island of St. Helena.
The port accommodates a series of piers that can accommodate vessels of various lengths and drafts.
The breakwater pier provides good protection from the swell generated by the surrounding heavy boat traffic.
To the services already available at present, more will be added in the coming months, such as the establishment of a storage area and the opening of some businesses, restaurants and hotels.
For those activities for which the port is not yet equipped, boaters can refer to the services of Marina Fiorita, in the Cavallino-Treporti area.
Through Marina Fiorita it is possible to take advantage of various services, including a fuel delivery pump, outdoor and indoor storage, and a workshop for repairing wooden hulls and engines.
Other future projects of a more commercial and cultural nature, such as the opening of a Biennale-related art gallery and the construction of a wellness center, hint at the desire to make this landing a “luxury” multipurpose center.
The inauguration of the port took place during the 2015 edition of the Riva Days La Serenissima.
The area where the new landing place was born belongs to Cantiere Celli and is located in an absolutely particular context for the Venetian reality: the island of Sant’Elena is located in a central area and from this new landing place it is possible to walk to Piazza San Marco.
Theisland of St. Helena, actually formed by two different islets, is located in the easternmost part of the city of Venice, and this allows you to enjoy a pleasant tranquility, remaining somewhat defiladed from the crowds of tourists who leave every day to discover the beauty of the Serenissima.
The island houses a religious complex, with a convent and a cloister that is worth a visit, within which there are some typical Venetian vegetable gardens and orchards.
The island offers a fair number of businesses, hotels, and restaurants.
From here it is very easy to get to the Biennale gardens, the Arsenal, the Naval Historical Museum, and St. Mark’s Basilica.
The small island is also an excellent starting point to set off by boat to explore the islands of the Lagoon, from the closest ones such as Certosa Island and Sant’Andrea Island to Murano, Burano, and Torcello.
The Marina Santelena seems to have all the credentials to be able to become a reference point for boaters, in Veneto and on the Adriatic coast.
