Sono entrate nel vivo le TP52 Super Series, le regate della classe TP52, intensa e importante competizione da anni nel cuore di appassionati armatori e velisti espertissimi. Con la Miami Royal Cup, secondo appuntamento dopo lโesordio di Key West, si sono cominciate a delineare le forze in campo in maniera netta.
A dettare legge รจ stata lโitalo argentina Azzurra, che รจ scattata in avanti dopo il quinto posto ottenuto nella precedente tappa americana. Scivola indietro la statunitense Quantum Racing che non saputo bissare il successo di Key West, e si piazza in quarta posizione di tappa e terzo in generale. Da notare che Azzurra e Quantum Racing, sono gli unici due team ad essersi spartiti la vittoria finale nelle cinque edizioni delle Super Series, tre per gli americani e due per lo scafo blu dello Yacht Club Costa Smeralda.
Il tedesco Platoon, secondo classificato in entrambi gli appuntamenti in Florida, รจ al secondo posto della classifica overall. E sembrerebbe quello che puรฒ mettere fine al predominio. ร stato lโunico a impensierire Azzurra che ha comunque vinto con un giorno dโanticipo. A salire sul podio di tappa anche i turchi di Provezza. Le prove di Miami hanno visto anche lโabbordo dellโamericano Sled sullโinglese Gladiator, che รจ stato obbligato a terra per le riparazioni per un giorno intero.
Da migliorare il passo e la messa a punto per Rรกn Racing e Bronenosec, sia gli svedesi sia i russi hanno molto da fare prima del Rolex Tp52 World Championship, campionato del mondo di classe e terza tappa delle Super Series, che si svolgerร a Scarlino, in Toscana, dal 16 al 20 maggio.
Le regate si prevedono combattute come al solito. Basti ricordare al termine della stagione 2016, dopo 45 regate disputate, solo 10 punti separavano il terzo e il sesto equipaggio in classifica finale, segno del grande equilibrio tra le forze in gioco.
Questโanno sono in 13 i Tp52 che si sfidano, provenienti da otto Paesi differenti: Italia, Usa, Gran Bretagna, Francia, Turchia, Svezia, Germania e Russia. Le regate, nonostante i 15 metri abbondanti delle barche, sono tiratissime e con tempi da deriva: la media per un issata di spi fino in testa allโalbero di 22 metri, impiega una media di tre secondi. E se quello spi รจ issato con le condizioni opportune riesce a spingere questi monoscafi ben oltre i 20 nodi. Certo che per competer con questi mostri serve un equipaggio adeguato.
Per questo sono reclutati i migliori velisti sula piazza. Sono oltre 20 le nazionalitร rappresentate sulla linea di partenza di una regata di Tp52 e da hall of fame della vela i nomi che compaiono nelle liste equipaggio. Tommaso Chieffi, Peter Holmberg, Hamish Pepper, John Kostecki, Vasco Vascotto, Adrian Stead, Guillermo Parada, Ed Baird, Ian Walker, solo per citarne alcuni che regolarmente sono a bordo di queste barche.
Per gli appassionati di vela agonistica, ammirare una di queste regate al prossimo campionato del mondo in un contesto come quello maremmano, in grado di regalare brezze da 18 nodi ogni pomeriggio รจ uno spettacolo da non perdere.
