Basta guardare la foto per capire che siamo di fronte ad un posto unico e incantevole, di quelli dove si vorrebbero passare tutte le serate (quanto meno da novembre ad aprile), e che sicuramente tutti vorremmo visitare almeno una volta nella vita. Se poi vi diciamo che oltre a trovarsi nelle acque calde dell’oceano Indiano serve anche cibo italiano vero, il sogno รจ completo. Si chiama The Rock, รจ situato nella parte sud-est dellโisola di Zanzibar, nel paesino di Michamvi Pingwe, ed รจ stato aperto nel 2010 da tre ragazzi italiani, giร proprietari a Zanzibar di un lodge e di un hotel, diventando in pochi anni unโicona dell’isola.
I ragazzi, vivendo nella zona, conoscevano la straordinaria isoletta, utilizzata come ricovero per attrezzi e saltuariamente dai ragazzi che vivono in spiaggia per improvvisare pranzetti per i turisti. Di lavori da fare ce n’erano tanti, ma il risultato ci pare piรน che soddisfacente… Per il pranzo, con la bassa marea, The Rock รจ raggiungibile a piedi, mentre con l’alta marea diventa un’isola vera e propria e i clienti vengono portati “a bordo” su una barchetta locale. Che si arrivi camminando o trasportati dalla barca, l’accesso al ristorante avviene attraverso una scenografica scala di legno che porta nella sala principale, costruita in perfetto stile locale con il tetto di foglie di palma e che ospita dodici tavoli. Il pezzo forte, ovviamente, รจ la terrazza: divani e cuscini nello stile tutto particolare dell’isola di Zanzibar (crocevia di culture africane, indiane e mediorientali) completano alla perfezione la vista sull’oceano.
Visto che The Rock รจ un ristorante, ci sembra d’obbligo parlare del menรน. Un misto di cucina italiana e cucina swahili che unisce alla materia prima piรน fresca che si possa immaginare (il pesce), la sapienza italiana nella preparazione e la professionalitร dei gestori, che importano vini e champagne per accompagnare i pasti e offrire un servizio di alto livello. I prezzi sono chiaramente un po’ piรน alti della media locale, ma la qualitร del cibo e la location li giustificano. Qualcuno potrebbe anche dire che “sorseggiare un Mojito (o un Dom Perignon) su un’isola nell’oceano indiano non ha prezzo”.
