Catamarani sportivi che sfrecciano a 120 nodi di velocitร . Per chi ama il brivido in mare la X-Cat Racing รจ una delle corse piรน emozionanti, una sfida contro le condizioni del mare e il coraggio di spingere l’imbarcazione oltre il proprio limite.
La competizione organizzata dall’UIM รจ da quest’anno ufficialmente la massima espressione internazionale della motonautica offshore. L’evento รจ ormai a tutto diritto l’equivalente nautico della Formula 1, con velocitร di punta da capogiro e le migliori soluzioni tecnologiche presentate dal mercato. Il risultato รจ una serie di corse con barche performanti, in grado di battagliare ed effettuare sorpassi mozzafiato.
Il mondiale dei catamarani sportivi si corre interamente in Asia e ha attirato l’attenzione degli investitori orientali. L’edizione del 2018 ha visto l’ingresso di un nuovo investitore cinese, che ha permesso di portare fondi da investire sull’organizzazione.
La X-Cat Racing รจ una corsa altamente spettacolare e per questo molto indicata per la programmazione televisiva. Uno degli obiettivi dell’UIM รจ proprio portare l’evento sugli schermi di Paesi di tutto il mondo, esportando un brand che per ora รจ fortemente legato al mercato asiatico e statunitense.
Tutte le sei tappe del mondiale 2018 si svolgono infatti in Asia: il primo e l’ultimo appuntamento negli Emirati Arabi Uniti, gli altri tre in Cina. Ogni round prevede un giorno di qualifica per la conquista della pole position, seguita da gara 1 e gara 2.
La prima corsa si รจ svolta al Fujairah Iternational Marine Club dall’11 al 13 aprile. Al via si sono presentati quattordici team provenienti da quattro continenti. Il dominatore assoluto รจ stato Dubai Police, che ha conquistato la pole position e vinto entrambe le gare. Un risultato di spessore ottenuto dall’esperta coppia di piloti emiratina Arif al Zaffein e Nadir bin Hendi.
Come spesso accade nella X-Cat Racing, non sono mancate le sorprese. A cominciare dal primo giro di Gara 1, in cui i due equipaggi australiani sono entrati in collisione, venendo costretti al ritiro e a un intenso lavoro notturno per riparare le imbarcazioni. Il contatto con Team Australia ha capottato Maritimo, provocando attimi di inquietudine tra il pubblico.
La prima delle due gare si รจ quindi conclusa con il podio dell’italo-australiano 222 Offshore di Giovanni Carpitella e Darren Nicholson e dello svedese Swecat Racing di Mikael Bengtsson ed Erik Stark.
Il copione non รจ cambiato di molto nella seconda corsa, dove Dubai Police non ha avuto difficoltร . 222 Offshore ha sofferto problemi al cambio, che l’hanno costretto a chiudere in ottava piazza. Il problema meccanico ha agevolato la rimonta del Team Australia di Pal Virik Nielsen e Jan Trygve Braaten, secondo al traguardo. Alle sue spalle si รจ piazzato il russo New Star, con Mikhail Kitashev e Dmitry Vandyshev.
La lotta per il titolo di campione del mondo e successore del Victory Team (assente quest’anno) riprenderร il 31 agosto in Cina, dove si svolgerร il secondo round. L’organizzazione dell’X-Cat Racing non ha ancora annunciato i luoghi che ospiteranno le tre tappe cinesi, in programma quest’autunno. L’unica certezza รจ che la tre giorni conclusiva si svolgerร dal 29 novembre al primo dicembre al largo di Dubai, dove verrร incoronato il nuovo campione del mondo.
